Travelers for Algeria tie named

A 20 – player Taifa Stars squad was unveiled on Friday in Dar es Salaam as the national team intensifies preparations ahead of a crucial 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria on 3rd September in Blida-Algiers.
Taifa Stars head Coach, Jan Poulsen who will be leading the team for its first competitive match has left out few common faces in the starting line-ups during his predecessor, Brazilian Marcio Maximo.
They include left back Juma Jabu, central defender Kevin Yondan, and Striker Jerson Tegete, who was entire developed by Maximo. Athumani Iddi who was recalled to the team by Poulsen after 15 months suspesion will also remain home together with goalie Juma Kaseja (injured), Uhuru Seleman and Abdulhalim Humoud.
Poulsen the Danish tactician told a press conference in Dar es Salaam that he had to decide the players to make a trip though he admitted it was not easy as some good player had were to remain home.
‘it is easy but it is my responsibility to tell every player what I think is good for the team and for the nation, not every player can make a trip and it is a challenge for those who do not travel to work hard’
The list to Algeria to face the Desert Foxes on 3rd September includes four foreign based players namely striker Nizar Khalfan who trades with Canada based club Vancouver Whitecaps, taking part in the USA first division, midfielder Henry Joseph, playing for Norway top league side Kongsvinger IL, Danny Mrwanda from DT Long An of Vietnam and Defender Idrisa Rajabu from Kenya Premiership champions Sofapaka.
Earlier this week before commencement of the residential camp, Poulsen told reporters in Arusha that though still need time to study the players, he knows how he want his team player to cope with challenges from big opponents Algeria, who qualifying for 2010 World Cup in South Africa but finished their campaign at group stage without scoring a single goal.
‘They are fast and have some dangerous moves especially on their left flank using their experienced players trading in tough leagues in France Germany and England, we will deal with that very carefully’.
The twenty player making the trip to Algiers are Goalkeepers; Shaaban Hassan, Jackson Chove, Defenders; Shadrack Nsajigwa, Salum Kanoni, Stephano Mwasika, Idrissa Rajabu, Agrey Morris, Nadir Haroub and Erasto Nyoni Midfielders; Henry Joseph, Nurdin Bakari, Abdi Kassim, Shaban Nditi,Suleleiman Kasssim and Jabir Aziz, Strikers; Danny Mrwanda, Nizar Khalfan, John Bocco, Mussa Hassan Mgosi and Mrisho Ngasa.
Taifa Stars leaves for Algiers on Tuesday 31 August by Qatar Airways scheduled to arrive in Algiers on1st September after spending a night in Doha – Qatar.
